"Tackle the Trails" at the 20th Annual Super Bowl Sunday Work Day at Montana de Oro State Park

Los Osos, CA: Ask any hiker or mountain biker local trails always need help, and with a few months left for wet winter weather, it’s imperative to work the trails now to prevent future erosion. One of the biggest volunteer trail work days on the Central Coast is coming up on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at Montana de Oro State Park, giving hikers, mountain bikers, trail runners and equestrians the opportunity to help maintain and improve the miles and miles of multi use trails at the state park.

The 20th annual Super Bowl Sunday work day is hosted by the Central Coast Concerned Mountain Bikers (CCCMB). Volunteers will meet a 9am at the Park Headquarters above Spooner’s Cove. The group will work until 12 noon. "Super Bowl Sunday is our largest work day of the year," said Greg Bettencourt, president of CCCMB. "It’s a great way to get outside and get some exercise before the big game." Trail users of all ages and abilities are encouraged to attend, and no prior experience is necessary, he said. "Equestrians and hikers are especially welcome. CCCMB relies on help from all types of trail users."

Volunteers should arrive on time and wear work clothes (long sleeves and pants are best), gloves, and bring plenty of drinking water. CCCMB will provide all the necessary tools, as well as leadership and direction. For the CCCMB the continental breakfast, and random drawing which CCCMB provides please arrive by 8:45.
