Lunar Occultation of Venus event at Pismo State Beach

Pismo Beach , CA : On the night of Saturday, June 16, 2007, the moon will pass in front of the planet Venus.  Come join us for night sky viewing at Pismo State Beach.  Sundown is at 8:18 PM that evening; please arrive between 8:00 and 8:20 PM.  Bring your binoculars.  We will begin with an orientation to night sky viewing and look at the tiniest sliver of a moon.  With luck we will see it pass before the nearby planet.  We will also look at constellations, star clusters, and other deep space objects.  Meet at the Oceano Campground on Pier Ave., Pismo State Beach.  Dress in layers and bring a flashlight, with a red lens if you have one.   Rain or cloud cover will cancel this event.  For more information, call Rouvaishyana, Manager, Morro Bay State Park Museum of Natural History at (805) 772-2694 ext. 105.
