Join State Parks and the Cayucos Land Conservancy for “Windmills and Wildflowers”

Cayucos, CA – CA State Parks is pleased to announce with the Cayucos Land Conservancy (CLC) a community celebration honoring 15 years of community support for a greenbelt around Cayucos and 5 years of partnership with CA State Parks. The centerpiece of that greenbelt, the Estero Bluffs, has been part of the State Park system for 5 years for the people of California. To celebrate the Estero Bluffs property, and to thank the community for its overwhelming support for this and other greenbelt acquisitions, the CLC is hosting a BBQ, barn dance, art display, nature walk and San Geronimo Windmill dedication.

When/Where

Sunday, May 1, 2005, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., San Geronimo Creek area, 1.8 miles north of Cayucos Drive Swallow Creek Ranch, 6030 Highway 1, Cayucos. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.

Event Details/ Photo Opportunities

Nature Walk led by local naturalist, Freeman Hall, San Geronimo Creek parking area of the Estero Bluffs property (1.8 miles north of Cayucos Drive) – 11:00 a.m. Dedication of the San Geronimo Windmill restored by Cayucos resident Ron Boyte, Estero Bluffs – 12 noon BBQ and barn dance at Swallow Creek Ranch (3 miles north of Cayucos Drive) from 1 to 5 p.m. featuring “Slippin Mickies” and “Just Country”, Cayucos Beach Ale, Cayucos Cellars wine and gourmet desserts. Windmill and wildflower art display and sale by Cayucos Elementary students and other local artists.

About the Cayucos Land Conservancy

The six-year old Cayucos Land Conservancy is working to protect the surrounding areas of historic Cayucos by establishing permanent greenbelt on the Estero Bluffs to the north, coastal terrace to the south and the hills behind Cayucos.
