Join with California State Parks for Earth Day 2005 at Montaña de Oro State Park
Morro Bay, CA: Volunteers are needed at Morro Bay State Park and Montaña de Oro State Park on Saturday, April 23, 2005 for the eighth annual Earth Day 2005 Restoration and Cleanup in conjunction with the California State Parks Foundation and PG&E. This statewide event brings thousands of volunteers together each year to plant native trees and community gardens, restore trails and wildlife habitats, install recycling bins, remove trash and debris from beaches and parklands and make overdue repairs to fences and boardwalks.
Earth Day serves as a day that educates the public about environmental stewardship and the ecological challenges facing our planet by a “hands on” approach from volunteers to preserve and protect our California State Parks.
Trail work projects in San Luis Obispo Coast District needs volunteers to work on installing an ADA compliant trail at the Heron Rookery in Morro Bay State Park and trail maintenance on the “Bloody Nose Trail” in Montaña de Oro State Park.
Volunteers of all ages are needed. Individuals or groups interested in volunteering for Montaña de Oro State Park should report to the Hazard Canyon parking area across from the Camp Keep entrance by 8:30 a.m. in Montaña de Oro State Park located on Pecho Valley Road in Los Osos. For interested in volunteering for Morro Bay State Park should park at the Morro Bay State Park, Museum of Natural History Parking Lot and walk north to the Heron Rookery by 8:30 a.m. For more information visit the website at www.slostateparks.com or to volunteer please contact Michael Beauchemin at 805-772-4006.
