Western Meadowlark
(Sturnella Neglecta)
This popular western bird is easily identified by its markings as well as it’s distinct song. About the size of a Robin, it is mottled brown above, bright yellow below, with V-shaped black bib. The song seems to be a series of loud flute-like phrases in a sequence. Western Meadowlarks can easily be seen sitting on fences around open fields and grasslands.
